Tips for Acetate Acetate is a great product to incorporate into your art. You can use it for windows, overlays over alcohol inks and other backgrounds, raised 3D wings, words and a whole lot more. The main thing I always get asked is "how do I attach it?" well, the answer depends on what effect you want to acheive. If laying it over a background to get an image with the background showing through - run it through your xyron. You cant go wrong with the old xyron for attaching acetate. It will be invisable once attached with no glue, gum or warping of the acetate like you get with glue. If you are attaching words.. i.e. a straight strip, you could use vellum tape - this also works for acetate, but again - the xyron is superior (no I dont get paid to plug them LOL) if you are attaching wings that you want to be able to bend up and acheive a 3d effect - attach them to the page with a tiny bit of double sided tape. (and I mean tiny - dont go into the wing area, just pop it in the middle/join of the wings) if you want the wings to sit up off the page even more - attach it to the page with a tiny bit of double sided foam mounting tape (c) SoulArts 2008 |
